So I haven't been paying close attention but why has management not done dick this offseason?

I think it’s clear they want to build organically and that last year they may have played a little over their head

I agree with this, but the Donaldson signing makes no sense if they're punting to 2020

A few other random thoughts about this:

- With the sanctions from the Coppy stuff, AA may not want to trade much of the farm because the lower levels are going to be really thin soon

- I think AA may have been scarred by the RA Dickey trade he made in Toronto. For those unfamiliar, he traded Noah Syndergaard for him. I think he fears repeating that mistake and may have trepidation about trading for someone like Corey Kluber as a result

They played to level of talent that was in the clubhouse. Unfortunately it wasn't good enough to win the NL.

I'm all for the majority of the team to be built organically like we did in the 90's, but it's okay to sacrifice a couple prospects for a proven MLB player such as JTR. Marquis Grissom, Greg Maddux, and Fred McGriff come to mind as a couple pieces that were added in exchange for prospects. They helped propel the Braves to win the World Series. The rest of the team was largely built from the farm.
