re: 1975-1989 was the golden age for growing up as a kid in the U.S.

I have kids in my neighborhood that are between 8 and 13 or so and they're never outside. Never. I used to look forward to getting out of school and running the neighborhood when I was that age. Ride your bike, collect your friends and seek out adventure.
