Because it is hard to teach correctly, with the G, Load, Freeze, Counters, etc and when you can have a guy who can count to three it makes teaching the Spread easier. The Spread is easy to teach.
Why do you think the Spread is so fashionable? Because it is hard to teach or run? I mean a trained monkey could make good decisions as a QB in a Spread.
