Never. They want to leave ZERO chance he can disprove it with an old vacation photo, or his yearbook saying he was on the debate team that went out of town for a competition, etc etc on that date.
Can’t refute it with any evidence if there is no exact date.

Problem is that staying so deliberately vague is an implicit admission they are full of shite.
If someone went to the cops with a similar story even a week after the incident they wouldn’t do shite about it because there would be nothing to investigate.
