Low recoil-6.5CM but its not that big of a difference if you use the same bullet weights.
If you are only shooting to 200yds then either one would work. If you are shooting long range, check the twist on the 7mm-08. If its a 9 twist it will beat the 6.5 because you can use heavier bullets but other wise, the 6.5 will win.
Im thinking about the same thing for my wife and kids but Im leaning towards the 7mm-08. I reload and 308 brass is readily available, 7mm bullets have tons of options, and Im planning on getting a 7mm RM for myself, so I could buy 120gr TTSX bullets for both and be done.
