We just completed registration for our district's fall football teams.
9/10 year old team: 18 kids
7/8 year old team: 14 kids
5/6 year old team: 2 kids
Every child signed up for our 7/8 and 9/10 team has at least one year of tackle experience.
I am very curious to see if in 5-8 years, all of those current 5/6 year olds end up playing in middle school, or, if they will never play tackle.
The NFL is pushing their flag football thing hard in our area, and it's cut into bantam football big time. Haven't noticed much drop off in middle schools here yet though. I think alot of parents are having their kids play flag football or no football until they are in middle school are high school.
