Well, he truly believes that every single accusation should result in a thorough investigation, no matter how asinine or unsubstantiated the claims are.

Nope. If there is no there -- there, then why should Kavanaugh have any reluctance to deny the accusation on the record.
That way, if, after this thing has been dug into for a few months, something concrete comes up against Kavanaugh, there will be an appropriate remedy.
