I always felt that if you lived/were born and raised in the state of the team you cheered for, you were good to go. It's not like college football is some magical game that only becomes interesting after you graduate. You can't help but develop an interest (or I guess deep hate) in a team when you are surrounded by it.
Plus, my LSU degree was paid for mostly by TOPS, so if you paid/pay taxes in LA, you've helped put people like me through college and can root for whoever the hell you want.
All that said, if you were born and raised in Lafayette or NOLA, went ULL or Tulane (or nowhere at all), and have a Bama decal on your car or a 55 national championships shirt in your closet, you're a fricking loser.
