re: ESPN reporters pick Week 3 - no one picks LSU

This isn't surprising. I'll always cheer for the win and support LSU but I also am a realist. Is there a worse matchup for us right now other than auburn? I think I'd rather Bama right now. Auburn has possibly the best defensive line in the country and our o line is the glaring weakness for us so far. Plus playing in Auburn? Their picks against us are just logical

There are these things called stats and highlights. You should check them out sometime.
Yeah I’m sure Auburn looked pretty good in the highlight reel against an FCS school
I obviously looked at the stats based on my previous comment of them committing 4 turnovers. I also saw half their passing yards came on one play, just like ours. I would venture a guess that they were not challenged running the ball. They will be this week.

Well isn't that convenient for you.
So you are making an argument that comparing games against in state FCS schools is more comparable than top 10 opponents on a neutral field?
Yes, using logic is a convenience

They will not believe, like many here.

But why couldn't we do that? How are you not getting this? They did what they were supposed to, we could not.

You can't rationally explain away why they scored at will while we could not. Are you seriously not worried by that fact?

You don’t get it. This is literally the worst matchup in this series for LSU in many years
In 2010 they had Cam Newton who was the worst matchup for every single team they played against. We hung in that game and played pretty bad.
I’m just not sure I am buying the Auburn hype. You may be right, they may throttle us, but I would think that would mean confirmation that we just aren’t very good. I’m not quite ready to admit that although I know some are.

Coach O is a shrewd rascal.
Don't show them anything and they never gonna know what hit them.

What’s your point? They ran over a bad defense. That won’t happen this weekend. They will have to rely on their passing game like we will.

Look, you want to take more away from the cupcake games than games against top ranked teams (you know, like this one), that’s your business. The level of preparation will be more similar in those games
Miami beat savanna st (I think) 77-0. They had trouble doing much of anything against us. Did our game give you more of indication on how good they are or did savanna state?

My point is right fricking in my post and you refuse to answer it. How where they able to do it, while we couldn't manage the same? What about that inspires confidence that we will do anything against them on their field?

It says we have an elite defense. We knew that already. The two games together say that our offense is not i a good place. Auburn's previous game shows that they are capable of moving the ball and didn't struggle with obviously weaker competition while we did.

really? hmmm... i always thought believing your team could win the big game was called being a fan.

Any real football reason why they should pick us to beat Auburn in Auburn?
No. There’s not any. Of course these cheeriOs don’t get that.
CheeriOs? I can see how some would DV "CheeriO". But I LIKE the name. I respect Coach Orgeron for many football reasons. And, I have a positive attitude about life in general. And, yes. I think LSU has the defense to hold Auburn to 14 or so. And enough fire power (Offense, Defense, and Special Teams) to score around 24.
Can't imagine having to mope around all day like Linus and his rain cloud. Being confident and content is a choice. It is not something that "just happens" to you.
CheeriO!!! Have a Great day!!!

While that might prove to hurt us in terms of development, it may also prove that we can continue to score when we need to.
No way you believe that.

I believe it.
Go back and watch the first quarter of both games. It was like the big kids playing against their little cousins.

Easy there. I have answered it several times. We did not play the same team. We both played bad teams. SLU clearly never gave up, I’m not sure when Alabama state did. I’m not going to take away much from those games. I’m sorry that you are so hung up on the games last week.
We were also missing our best OL last week which made a difference. Our depth on the OL is bad and that is indeed alarming. Not sure how traore was so highly recruited.
We ran 15 total plays in the second half. The only thing I take away from that is we were super conservative. I think that was a mistake and should have tried to exercise the offense.

And Alabama state does not. What they did against them is just not that relevant.
Let’s get back on track. Do you think LSU covers the spread? I do. Not sure if we win outright, I think Auburn has shown they are a great team that has finished 2 games while LSU has gotten shy in the second halves of both games and left a bit to the imagination. I really do question how good stidham is, and they will need him to make plays.

But why could we not move the ball on them? We are LSU, they shouldn't be able to stop us running straight through them, yet our offense struggled mightily.

FCS school Our backups should have no issue with this level of opponent.

And also had no success moving the ball, which is my point... again.

It's relevant when you consider that Southeastern also doesn't and we didn't do shite against them.

Oh yay, we lost by less than 10. How comforting .
Posted on 9/13/18 at 10:14 am to tomthum81
Maybe because they haven't seen anything in two games that would make them pick LSU over Barn.

My prediction is in the thread up top. I think we lose by roughly 10 after a late scored due to our defense being tired because our offense has shown they are incapable of sustaining drives, even against FCS schools.
