I know you said there was a Time article about the possibility of this, but was this kind of attack never thought of/taken seriously by the govt?

Unfortunately for us, those bastards’ plan was genius, but not overly complicated. Seems like the intelligence community, even without a credible threat at the time, should have considered this a possibility
