Oshsner hospital NOLA at work. My boss & upper administration were at a conference in DC. Their hotel was two miles from the Pentagon. They thought it was an earthquake. Somebody came running into conference room screaming about a plane crash & terrorist attack. My boss & har boss ran out the hotel, leaving everything but their purses, jumped in the rental & tore off outta there.
They got out before they shut down the roads. Everyone else was stuck in DC for a while. But communication was impossible & nobody knew where they were or if ok. My boss' husband was head of security at Ochsner at the time. Tough ex Marine. Had us locked down immediately.
Later in the day he came to our office and was sitting at his wife's desk when he finally got thru to her cell. We heard a sob then "she's ok, she's ok". Then we were all sobbing. Tears of shock, relief, anger, & camaraderie. The one and only time there has been a group hug at work !
I'll never forget my co-workers, our team from that day. They stay with me all these years later. Not sure why.
Every second of that day felt like a week. The fact that being nowhere near NY DC Penn. But having someone in the middle of it was gut wrenching, knowing there's nothing you can do.

NEVER FORGET NEVER FORGET
