Careful with that. I watched a guy digging a trench with a backhoe hit a ground wasp nest and they ran him off his machine with several stings to take with him.
He wound up backing up the machine and getting gasoline to take care of the nest area since it was exposed.

It's a extendahoe. I have a 26' reach. 
Was digging around them the last couple days finishing up installing a treatment plant.
