Cord cutting question - watching sports choppy - herky/jerky

I don’t visit the tech board often - so I’m not sure if this has been addressed
I cut cord about a year ok - bought A roku express for our HD tv (1080). Picture quality was not good - watching sports was especially painful, as the fast motion looked jumpy and herky/jerky
Did some research and decided to upgrade to roku ultra - the picture is equally jumpy. It seems to be equal for the most part between apps (sling, espn, etc)
I have no idea how to even troubleshoot this. I had my internet speed “tested” - and it was deemed fast enough. Roku and sling customer service are not helpful.
Can anybody help? I can give additional specs if needed.
Thanks in advance,

I’m not expert but here’s what I did for Roku (I have less issues with Firetv)
- hardwire connection (use Ethernet instead of WiFi)
- watch in 720p instead of 1080p
- only stream game (not other internet usage while watching game).
- make sure you have proper speed (at least 30)
- make sure modem is a 3.0 not 2.0

Not trying to be a dick, but this sounds like user error.
I have a Roku tv hardwired to my router on a 10 year old tv. Sports game stream perfectly in hd, as does everything else. I have a very cheap set up (still in school) and I never have a problem
ETA: not to say you are absolutely the only problem, just sounds like a little more know how would help you. You’ll get that with experience so keep tinkering!
What is your internet speed?
