A friend of mine in academia is theorizing that the rise in the number of gyms and men working out and focused on their bodies is a direct contribution to the feminization of men.
While we like to think as a society that big strong men is what we need more of, the narcissism involved is a very feminist trait. Before 20 years ago, the only men that were so focused on their looks were only found in the homosexual community.
Step back, stay fit, but don't focus so much on it. Narcissism is a common trait in women, and its becoming more so in men.

With obesity becoming the norm, I think that hypothesis is a little shaky.
