I started looking at craigs and la sportsman
I currently have a heavy 13' kayak that's really too much work to deal with.
It seems like I'm looking for a single person deal.
Are there any "brands" out there?

If you are just looking for a pirogue for yourself and maybe a dog/some gear, the 10.5' Chapman is nice. I think it's called the Canebrake. It does not track as well as the longer models, but it's less than 30lbs and really easy to deal with. It does not pole well. I have three different Chapman models and that one gets the most use.
