you are campaigning on the status quo, let foreign countries impose tariffs on US goods as they will,
yes

then bring up countries with little to no tariffs on their goods as a comparison?
Examples of countries with much higher per capita income with no tariffs on imports to speak of??? Yes I think that is appropriate to this discussion.

The end goal to Trump's tariffs are no tariffs.

Let's all hope so. The chicken tariff remains.

Let's all remember Trump said the goal was the end of all tariffs and subsidies.

Somebody wake me up when he goes to Iowa and says he is ending the crop insurance subsidy program and stopping the ethanol mandate.

I am afraid we have started a war we do not have balls to finish and it is causing real pain to real people and the loss of real opportunities.

But it is contradictory to your argument. Your argument is to let countries impose tariffs on US goods at will. How does that bring us closer to legit free trade?

I don't recall Trump mentioning subsidies, but i see where it comes from. If tariffs are the reason we have to subsidize the farmers, then an elimination of tariffs should equal an elimination of subsidies. But you know the "poor farmers" will fight to keep that gravy train tooth and nail.

The difference, is that the POTUS can't unilaterally remove subsidies. All of these subsidies are snuck in bills approved by Congress. He can veto any pork laden bills however. Tariffs, on the other hand, can directly be handled by POTUS, as we have seen.

The EU disagrees. Give it time, i'm pretty confident they will back down (the chinese).

you keep acting like the people who are temporarily for tariffs are also permanently FOR subsidies.
