If you own a bar or restaurant or other business that relies on discretionary income, it might. Those dollars are not infinitely elastic. Money spent gambling is money not spent somewhere else.
OTOH if you own pawnshop or payday loan company, you probably love the idea.
And as already stated in this thread, gambling has done little for a the state revenue picture. No reason to believe sports betting would be any different.
I'm not against it. People should be able to indulge in any vice they wish to, within reason. I am injecting some realism into the discussion, though.
