It was fun. I'd recommend it.
Wasn't paved or allowed last year either. It's not that big of a deal to just return via the same route.
I liked it better on the drive back. You know more of what to expect and what to look for. And we made our relaxing stops on the return trip because we didn't have to worry about whether we would get there or not.
