This is one reason IMO
The talent and the coordinator using that talent is one of the best in college football but there's still some unknowns.
LSU as a team is being overlooked and for good reason IMO. People want to see Ed Orgeron and that LSU offense take big steps forward this season on the field.
Most sports writers, Vegas and even other head coaches are predicting a 6 to 8 win season for LSU. When people think of a 7 win team they're not thinking that teams defense is one of the very best in college football.
If LSU starts the season running on all cylinders, then that means both units are playing well and the defense will be headlined.
