Alright, so I email dude and I'm like "mind if I throw in a few extra runs". Not 2 minutes later he's cussing me out over the phone talking about how I need to "trust the process" and "are we going to this or not". I said "it be a lot easier to trust you if your plan didn't look like "week 6 of a Hanson's beginner marathon" plan. That got him hot, boy. Essentially he's explained to me that 1. He's finally looked at my training and I need the break and he needs to protect himself. 2. He thinks that if I had dropped miles a little sooner, I'm in sub 1:11 shape.

He has my respect now; I will continue the plan.

Needed some reassurance, I'm not very good at shut up and color.

That's how I did it and quit smoking too. Good for you man. That's awesome.

Well, that's reassuring. You seem like an honest enough fella I reckon.

Like, for your taper? Or drop miles down to lower miles throughout your plan? You have no definitive race anytime soon, correct?

Lol, I have to say I like the sound of this guy. Personally, I think he might be a good fit for you based off of that conversation. From what I can tell, you're going to want to do things your own way (which makes sense, you've had a lot of success and I don't blame you). For things to work, you'll need somebody to talk to you straight. And it sounds like he's earning your trust that way.

Btw, in the grand scheme, a few 45-50 mile weeks at the start of the relationship probably won't kill you. If he's still got you on 40 miles in two months, then you might have a problem
