total bummer. know you had been working hard. are you still going to run eugene? thats at the end of the month?
18 week marathon plan is way too long. benefit of maintaining base solid base you only need 10-12 weeks to fine tune.
Unfortunately not, man. My gait is trashed right now due to the pain and I probably should have thrown in the towel a month ago. I did decrease volume and ramp up the cross training and even took like 10 days total off from running to see if it would settle down, but no luck.
I worked with a running Doc I know Dr. Kasey Hill (who used to be at Oschner the Grove, now in Virginia) virtually, as well as a couple PT's and another Sports Med Doc around here to try to get it right to make the race and we couldn't. The only thing that will hopefully help is a break from running. Still killing the cross training though, and I have a plan to get back to running asap of course.
It's just a total let down as my whole life since the week after Christmas has been prepping for Eugene. I've been visualizing the race, starting and finishing inside Hayward Field, etc. and now it's all gone for now. I'm just now able to come to grips with it and talk about it, haha.
