The bigger question would be if Obama lied about his past on applications for college to get ahead. It seems to matter regarding Elizabeth Warren.

I think this is the key. I believe he was born in Hawaii, but used his fathers Kenyan past to get ahead and quite possibly claimed he was born in Kenya for this purpose.
But it's very hard not to see why people think he was born in Kenya with this shite floating around:
