Slight disagreement from me.

The merchant is likely adding in the fee into the price of the good sold.

But this benefits the credit user as the good is the same price regardless of payment method used. The loser is a cash purchaser, who is subsidizing the credit users.

Remember. I’m buying materials for my company. My price is my price. Check, account with the company or Amex payment. On a big job I’ll put it on my account with them, then move it to Amex to free up more credit on my line with my supplier and then pay off the Amex. Sometimes multiple times in a month. What I pay for my goods never changes.

Now, they might be factoring this in for their clients nationwide but everyone is paying for that so why wouldn’t I still want to get the points?
