There is no such thing as a 250 psi vacumm check ! There is a high side and low side pressure check that helps diagnose system conditions. The only reason to pull a vacumm on the System is to eliminate any moisture and contaminants and prepare for a refrigerant fill.

Is it possible there is moisture in the system that freezes and not have a leak?
