Due to the offensive-oriented rules changes and greater emphasis on passing proficiency, the current QB era is better statistically but I err to the quoted 80s-early 90s era: the era of Joe Montana and Dan Marino, so many moments and games that defined the league and are still being referred to today like The Drive, The Catch, etc, the first realization of the intent of the seminal 1978 rules changes in terms of offensive stats, QBs still played under tons of defensive pressure to an extent compared to today so the window was smaller and consequently accuracy wasn't as brilliant across the board and physical toughness was a romanticized QB attribute, awesome vintage uniforms, first instance multiple NFL games could be consumed per TV with the advent of cable so opportunity for greater exposure, so many tough and athletic QBs with rocket arms this era was great
