We are staying in one of the houses circled. As you can see, its right next to the rocks.
I think I had some relatives stay there one time. Our place is right across from the Racetrack but I would drive over there. I think that week was the only time I have ever fished in-shore in Destin since we typically go offshore. On point, I fished the jetties with a gold Spoon and caught several Reds and we caught some Pompano in the surf. Also, one night a dude set-up a heavy surf rod right by those houses and kayaked out about 100 yards and dropped his bait. He ended up landing a gigantor Bull Shark. Maybe 400 pounds. Pretty much ended me ever wanting to get in the gulf after that.

Those sharks are in the water all the time, how often do they bite compared to the number of people in the water. Almost never...

We went on a near shore trip a few years ago and Mrs. Crawfish ended up catching a monster Tiger shark right by the buoy in the pass. That will definitely make you think once or twice about swimming out to the second sandbars.
