It's probably hit or miss depending on each case. I am sure some people get great care and some get crappy care. I have dealt with veterans that rave about the care, and some that say it's the worst.

I have also talked to a veteran that drove from Baton Rouge to New Orleans for care, because he did not want to pay out of pocket for his emergency. He went to the General once when his heart rate was 180 and got stuck with a huge bill because his VA insurance didn't cover it. He was having a true medical emergency, but he had to go out of pocket because the General wasn't a VA hospital. The next time he had similar symptoms, he drove to New Orleans for care, even though he could have died on the way.

Well they put their life on the line for that care, so no it isn't worth what they pay for it. Veterans should receive much better care than they get.
