its satisfying to beat a level. very frustrating until you get weapon upgrades and know when to use them.
even then, the margin of error is minimal

Yes. Loved every minute of playing that game. Looking forward to the DLC coming soon.
The only "upgrade" that I think is essential is the one that lets you vanish for a moment when you air dash or whatever. I just used the standard "gun" you get throughout the whole game.

I got it a week ago. This was my feeling exactly. It's nuts. It takes you less than 2 minutes on a run to beat a level, but it could take you 50+ times to beat that damn level.

The game is such a cool throwback, but with that comes the old school 3 lives and no save point 
So many times getting to the last version of a boss only to die and start it all over again.
Oh well, 2 bosses down and a lot more pain to come.
Yes to poster above, your first purchase should be the smoke grenade. You cannot be hurt when dashing.

Yea I believe this was the only upgrade I bought in the game. I would have to check but I believe that was it.
The level that gave me the biggest headache was a dragon that brought me back to megaman days of frustration on Dr. Wily's robot dragon.

Hardest, most unenjoyable thing in the game is the pacifist run on Perilous Pier.
Stupid Octopus. Doesn't matter how much HP I made it there with nor did it matter if I had Invincibility. I'd die from having to hit the jewel which raised me into a projectile.
I spent a day knocking out all my A's and P's - this was my last one. Pretty sure I failed it over 200x. I stayed up till 3:15am before I got it (I'm one of those people that can't go to bed knowing that I couldn't beat a minute-long side scroller mission lmao, it'll mess up my day if I go to work the next day knowing I couldn't beat it). I made it to the end twice and choked each time, one of which had me dashing off and into a white ball. Of course, on my winning attempt, I did the octopus with 1 HP and no super (got tired of waiting for the pink fish and I was practically in hysterics by then). Didn't even feel happy or skilled (like I did after Ridge, which has consistent, repeatable strategies/routes and gave a great sense of achievement afterwards).
They really should nerf that last part. Make the octopus head bigger, give some I-frames when smacking the jewel, get rid of the blimp that shoots the white ball. SOMETHING. Nobody should have to endure that. By far the hardest part of the game.

LOL. I have never tried to do a pacifist run on that but I just watched a youtube video of it to remind me of that level. Yea....not doing that.

I think the only time I went for every parry was for the boss that has a pirate on a boat or something. Other than that I just got my special from shooting.
