Was there for a conference a few years ago during this event. Was staying at a downtown hotel. The parade was just a block or 2 from hotel. Honestly didn’t affect a thing. Unless you go to the actual parade route you won’t notice a difference. I really thought the homeless talk was exaggerated...it’s not. Was shocked at how widespread it was. Very aggressive panhandling, human waste on the sidewalk, people shooting up...much bigger issue than “the gays”.

I've never noticed this and I am there about once a year. But I'm not in the tourist areas/hotel areas or downtown much. More in the Mission, Noe Valley and the Haight. But my friend works in North Beach and I meet him there after work sometimes and never noticed anything crazy.
