I went once when I was 17, just a young whippersnapper still honing my drinking skills, and the result was the worst headache I’ve ever had in my life (and I’ve had many). Got there Friday night, started drinking, and it never stopped - all the way through the parade Sunday morning, with nothing to eat all weekend except for boudin from the superette. There was no sleep, because there was simply no time for it. The locals I was with appeared to be unfazed. When I finally got back to BR I think I slept for 19 hours straight.
