A true deep end isn't used all that much these days... a sport pool that is 3'6"-4' on outsides and 5-5'6" in the middle would be used so much more especially if you have kids and you can still put a slide in. The sport pool with a basketball hoop and volleyball net get tons of use. Throw in a shallow lounge pad and its the best of both worlds. We had to go with vinyl liner due to the water table being too high and contractor said their was risk of it "popping" out of the ground if we drew the water down too much for cleaning/repair. Cost wasn't that much different but I do like the color choices for the liner as opposed to fiberglass however we did have to replace the liner in year 7 which all of a sudden starts making it more expensive than fiberglass.
