And that's the beauty of the electoral college. The old white men who made up our constitution had the foresight to understand that a majority of the people living in the east at that time had no right to dictate how the other people in the country wanted to live their lives.

It still holds true today.

Article 5. If you get to many red-states, they can wield a strong hammer.

Also, speaking literally about the Democratic National Party, aside from its platform, they could have some image and funding issues if pending campaign financing lawsuits don't work out and/or it come to light that DWS has been a naughty girl.
