From my thread on Poli...

quote:

Came back to the office downtown after lunch, got behind a van with Florida plates. I could see police lights in the distance at the Iberville Building. My first thought was "frick. They're having a fire drill and now I'm going to have to trek all over the place just to be able to get back to the office."

I was wrong. It turns out the Poor People's Coalition (or whatever they call themselves) was doing a protest over the possible cut to SNAP. It looked like every on-duty DPS officer was there. The van in front of me (with the Florida plates) stopped at the intersection (N 5th and North) to do what I thought was stare at the protests.

Nope, wrong again. The van stopped and a good 6-7 people climbed out, only one looked to be in a shape other than "excessively round". It was like a clown car, but filled with fat people.

Pro tip: When protesting the cancellation of a free-food program, you might want to have skinny people being your most visible crew. Having morbidly obese people crying because they aren't getting free food doesn't exactly endear sympathy.
