True for all parents.
My son (my other kids are pre Kindergarten) and I did a road trip through Ontario and Quebec last fall, and we are going to Boston and Maine this fall. We've done road trips through California and Arizona in the past, and we went to Turks and Caicos in the spring. We've also missed a few weeks for Disney. He definitely gets more out of these trips than a week of school.
We always let the school know weeks ahead of time as a courtesy, and I tell them that the trip is educational.

Not sure how much testing a 1-2 grader is gonna have but I can check once the calendar is set. We have done Mardi Gras Break and it was just too busy. I’m skipping school from now on if we go somewhere that has busy times.

If anything, taking them out if school yo experience something is better than them sitting at a desk
