If push comes to shove, I'd like to see Hilliard try to give it a go. It's shoulder soreness, not forearm/elbow pain.

No one will pitch hurt because "push comes to shove".

True. But, if he's experiencing shoulder soreness and attempts to pitch, it's going to put a lot of strain on his elbow because he will be overcompensating. Think about walking with a limp because of a sprained ankle or knee. A lot of times the non injured ankle will become sore or even injured because you're overcompensating for your injury. It's very, very dangerous to pitch with any type of soreness because a pitcher uses every muscle in his body to pitch, especially with maximum velocity.
