Fahrenheit 451...

My son just finished reading it (6th grade literature assignment). I loved the book as a kid, and of course, HBO just released the newest movie version of the book. It is crazy to me, how much of our current culture Bradbury nailed.
The book was published in 1953...when the book was written, there was approximately 1 tv per 3 households. Here he writes of huge screens covering walls, people listening to what is essentially wireless earbuds...not to mention the mechanical hounds.
The Science in this Fiction has stood the test of time very well to this point. Would you agree? What other SciFi books have weathered time as well?
I'm trying to get my son more interested in classical science fiction. What other books would you put on his Summer reading list if he were your son?

Beyond Bradbury, I'd add I AM LEGEND by Richard Matheson, and maybe THE SHRINKING MAN.

My God, they f*cked up that story so badly...reminded me of what they did to F. Paul Wilson's The Keep years ago.
