I lived in that shithole town for almost three years. I am so thankful I got out. We go back and visit friends and relatives occasionally and I just can't believe how bad the roads are despite license plates costing an arm and a leg in Hinds County. Someone that lives there, please post the cost of your tag. I've also heard that there are bridges out all over the rural parts of the county bc there is no money to fix them.

This accident is infuriating. My SIL said that it has taken them almost a year to resurface a two mile stretch of road. Just last week they had to go back and re- do the manholes. There is a manhole right in front of the girl's school, about 200 yards from the accident, that has had barrels around it for 3 weeks.

I think of all the crazy shite teenagers do and live though it and this poor child was killed by an incompetent city.

Shitty Cities’ answer to all road problems, regardless of complexity or needs outside of patching and repaving: “Hotmix it.”

When I read the comments I have come to a clear conclusion: it is time we let it die.

America needs a reset. From the federal level to the local level.

I'm not joking and being serious. The sooner the better and we can start over after the culling.
