Suggestions: Unless he begs otherwise, play 9 holes or fewer when with him. Don't keep his score for a while; just acknowledge his occasional good shot. And most importantly, when you are at the range with him, make sure he is in your line of sight ( to your right if you're right handed). They tend not to be very safety conscious at that age.
