re: "As a spouse, you serve too" - USAA commercial

I'm pretty sure my mother would never say that she "served" even thought Dad went to Vietnam three times and had two tours of Korea (his WWII tours were before they were married). She did have her own extra responsibilities when Dad was gone, and this was in the days where most of the communication was by letter.
