The same argument can be made for the other side. Why are they letting a "phrase on currency" upset them so much?

The bigger issue is that it exposes the complete ignorance about how the country was founded. "In God We Trust" is not a foundation phrase.

How would you feel if your government changed the motto to “No gods, no kings, only man”?

It doesn’t upset us; we simply think it’s inappropriate for the government to be making proclamations on the subject.

It's the difference between you having the right to believe as you wish and forcing that belief on others.
