Gilbert has been injured all season, not a "sore arm" he has a shoulder injury. He is grinding thru the pain to pitch because he feels the team needs him. They shot him up with cortisone to try to get him thru the season. Most unselfish player on team to sacrifice his draft year to gut out an injury for the team. This makes a lot of sense. His velocity has been down 5+ mph from day 1 and his slider hasn't had the same bite to it that it used to.

Everyone remembers his Omaha start last year, but Gilbert was dominant for us all year long against top competition (nearly 60 innings pitched). He had the lowest ERA on the team, the best SO:walk ratio (67:12), and a .190 ba/against. He has physically looked like a different guy this year.
