I mean, I have to disagree. Of course, their current lives are nothing like regular Americans. However, they all have fairly normal stories of their pre-high profile lives. Even the Bush's. Bill Clinton came out of an abusive home in Arkansas with an alcoholic stepfather. Hillary Clinton's dad was a small business owner and went to public schools. Barack Obama is the son of divorced parents who had to move a lot because of his mother's work. Michelle Obama's parents were a city worker and a secretary. Laura Bush was a teacher and librarian before meeting George W. The Bush's were known for making their own way and not totally relying on the family name. Obviously, the name helped, but it isn't like they always lived in some gated community in the NE. Living in Midland, TX isn't glamorous.
