i've characterized the "viewpoint" fairly, and no one has tried to actually counter that

that clear "point" here is that the source of the phrase is all that matters to the issue- and so it is dismissed as a worthless talking point, regardless of its actual worth

i immediately and repeatedly get attacked as the groupthinker or the guy missing the point, when i certainly see the point better than the people who swallow it without thinking
