Are being represented in media (commercials and programming) far above what they are as a percentage of the population.

This is for any number of reasons:

They buy shite too
Guilt about previous omission
Guilt about previous mistreatment (real, or perceived)
Self esteem building

Whether the above are valid or not, they do not explain why white men are almost universally portrayed as either incompetent or evil, or both.

It's the latter that lends support to the thought this is the result of some sort of nefarious plan.
