It was billed as an anthology series - so season 2 would have a separate storyline. Hopefully (if the series is continued) they keep doing period pieces on European explorations that went wrong/missing.

I’m down for an anthology series as long as the quality is as good as this season has been. There are endless things they could do plot/setting-wise. Roanoke, for example.
But this season has been amazing. I am also sad it’s ending today.
