There's something to be said about a show that begins with the viewer already knowing that everyone dies. Even though that "mystery" is solved, it's still incredible to see the individual stories of the characters. It's actually kind of refreshing to not have the "who will survive?" thing hovering over you the whole series.

I also like that they have not relied too much non the supernatural element. Obviously that part is embellished in the story/legend, but the setting is interesting enough to carry a story/plot on its own. I like that the supernatural stuff is more of a background story, and the focus is more about survival in that setting, as well as getting out.

That is refreshing as well, since I feel like most people nowadays would just pump it full of supernatural stuff to try to make it flashy. But the more subdued approach is really working for this show.
