If I were Trump, I'd do away with the census altogether. It's antiquated .
We should create a federal database of state issued IDs then the census could be taken from that database. Saving millions of dollars and providing a much more accurate count.

I don't see a path to adding a guns-related question to the census, as it has nothing whatsoever to do with the scope of the census.
They've asked people about hot/cold running water, whether there are telephone lines run to the house that can make/receive phone calls, etc., on official census forms and have at least attempted to force people to answer via threat of law.
So how is that within the scope? (I'm agreeing with you that it is an inappropriate question, but that has never stopped them before.)

No they don't...
Unless you are there for psychiatric reasons, questions regarding firearms are completely out of the ordinary

Just because something falls outside the scope of a census doesn't mean it's unconstitutional.
I wish people would stop arguing non points.
The Constitution only speaks to Congress passing no law which prevents the ownership of firearms. The government asking if you have firearms certainly wouldn't do that.
You can't just use "unconstitutional" any time the government does something you don't like, that's what the pathetic left does.
Good luck. This board is crawling with Constitutional Scholars that stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Good point. If they put it on there... just check "no" and move along. They aren't going to check, and if they do... it'll likely cost you $500, though.

Why stop there? Like Reagan said, why not just require everyone to have a tattoo of a unique ID number on their forearm?

You're truly a blissful idiot.
The point of the census is to determine the makeup of the citizenry to establish the number of representatives not build a database of who has firearms, what race, religion or eye color you have.
