LSU has also hired these coaches/analysts to the staff this offseason:

Leon Wright 28
Aaron Schwanz 31
Jeremy Hawkins 32
Donovan Jackson 33
Jorge Munoz 43
Kevin Faulk 41
James Cregg 44
Doug Nussmeir 47

Anyway, I think age is pretty irrelevant with a coach, though. Pretty weak attack overall. Pete Jenkins was a fossil and players swear by him. The same way guys like Larry Fitzgerald endorse Jerry Sullivan as the best coach he's ever had.

As critical as I’ve been of Orgeron I do have to give him major credit for this. It’s a very positive sign that they are increasing the support staff with what appears to be good hires.

To be frank I really don’t care what players say. I do not doubt either are good or even great coaches but that’s only part of the job. Jenkins didn’t recruit, they are lucky to have Thomas and get a waiver in the recruiting end, but that’s not a long term solution. Position coaches need to recruit hire Jenkins and Sullivan as analyst or guest coaches for camps (if that’s allowed) but on the full time staff I’d rather have young, hungry guys that are relentless recruiters and can bring fresh ideas

ETA having an retiree or maybe 2 on staff would be fine if the rest of the staff was stronger, I really don’t see how hiring a 60 yo OC that hasn’t been a full time OC for 20 years is a model for success
