I really only use this machine to surf the net, but slowly it's been progressively locking up more and more. I've never really done anything to help it. Anything that I could do to significantly help it out?

MacBook Pro 2011
2.8 ghz Intel Core I7
Software Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G63b)

638 gb free out of 749

Browsing with Firefox 48.0.2

How much RAM? 4 GB is minimal, 8 GB is money.

SSD and RAM upgrade, get rid of junk files and programs that you don't need, clean OS install.

Go to this site and see what upgrades are available for your computer:

Both RAM and an SSD are relatively easy DIY projects.

Ssd
Ram

In that order (assuming you only websurf, don’t run multiple programs at once, and aren’t using websites that heavily tax system resources)
