In my experience, gas isn't used in Mexico as much as here.

Just speculating, but if no fowl play, one would think all 4 were poisoned somehow

Maybe dad got sick of the whole damn bunch of them and didn't want to go back to Iowa, so he poisoned the burritos on the last night of vacation. But that seems like it would fall into the category of foul play.

Reminded me of the NC Best Western "death trap" Room 225 story a few years ago

The CO2 was from a faulty swimming pool heater a floor below. All this to say you never know how it can get you but when it does, it does.
